Paddleboarding Adventure up the River Arun

7 hr
150 British pounds
Littlehampton RNLI to the Black Rabbit pub and return with tide

Service Description

Would you like to challenge yourself and improve your skills? On this tour we use the tides to take a trip up the River Arun. As it’s tidal, please be aware this is quite a demanding paddle and you'll need a decent level of fitness and some experience paddling to attempt it. The level of difficulty is rated moderate. Our adventure up the River Arun starts near the mouth of the estuary at Littlehampton RNLI. We meet up at the car park there and setup followed by a short practise and safety session. We enter the water from the beach or slipway and paddle up river with the tide. At first the river starts very wide, almost at the mouth of the estuary. After meandering through the fields and lowlands of Ford and Torrington the river winds its way through the historic market town of Arundel. There are resplendent views across to Arundel Castle and the surrounding countryside on the approach from either side. After this we go a little further upstream eventually finding our way into the reeds as we get closer to our eventual pub lunch destination at The Black Rabbit. After mooring up at the rivers edge, we take a well earned break enjoying a delicious traditional pub lunch (or alternatively a healthy packed lunch on the grass bank beside). Then, after a short wait for the tide to change, we turn back downstream and paddle at our leisure back to the car park. Duration: 09:00-16:00 (Times will vary with tides) What’s included: - High quality blow up paddleboard or kayak and paddle for use for the day - Minimal style life vest - Small drybag - Water is provided but we suggest you bring your own bottle. Optional extras: - Bring a friend (+£75.00pp) - Packed lunch (+£20.00pp) What you need to bring: - Swimming clothes - Wet weather gear - Hat, sunscreen and sunglasses - Drybag for anything you wish to take - Any kind of wet shoe of gloves you think you may need. Barefoot is normal whilst paddling but some people prefer to use these for warmth and/or grip - Small day backpack - Money for pub lunch (unless opting for the packed lunch) - Water in camel backpack or water bottle
