Paddleboarding Adventure on the River Ouse

6 hr
125 British pounds
Barcombe Mills to Anchor Inn

Service Description

Have you ever seen people paddleboarding and thought you’d love to try that out? Come give it a go with us! Our adventure up the River Ouse starts at the locally famous Barcombe Mills. We start from the free car park there, meeting at 9am to setup with a short safety briefing. Then we enter the water from the island and do a quick practise session to get used to the boards, if unfamiliar, after which we paddle up the river! The paddleboards can also transform into kayaks with seat-backs if you just do not get on with them. At first the river starts wide and open, slowly narrowing as you move further up. The scene is gentle and relaxing, with pond skaters and dragonflies skipping over the water's surface and willow trees gently overhanging the river's edge. The flow of the Ouse is gentle and slow, perfect for beginners and those looking to get closer to the natural world. We go up as far as you like before turning back or reaching the Anchor Inn for a tasty traditional pub lunch (or optional healthy packed lunch on the riverbank, if preferred). Then we cruise back downstream at our leisure - and with full bellies! - back to Barcombe Mills, finishing by 3pm. Please be mindful that there is one section nearby the pub where we will have to get from raft to riverbank, which can be muddy and slippery at certain times of year. We will move all of the equipment for you at this stage for your safety. What’s included: - High quality blow up paddleboard with paddle or kayak for use for the day and paddle tour with local guide - Small drybag - Minimal style life vest - Water is provided but we suggest you bring your own bottle. Optional extras: - Packed lunch (+£20.00pp) - Bring a friend (+£75.00pp) What you need to bring: - Swimming clothes - Hat/ sunscreen and sunglasses. - Wet weather gear (depending on the weather!) - Drybag for anything else you wish to take - Any kind of wet shoe or gloves you think you may need. Barefoot is normal whilst paddling but some people prefer to use these for warmth and or grip - Spare change of warm clothes - Small day backpack - Money for pub lunch at the Anchor Inn (unless opting for the packed lunch) - Water in camel backpack or water bottle.
